10 Things Every Teacher Knows - National Teacher Appreciation WeekBack before I was the wife of a CEO and homeschool mom, I was a public school teacher in the trenches of the public school system in Mississippi. Everyday I went to school early, left late, and cashed minimal pay checks at the end of the month. Now, I teach 2 of my kids at home and 1 goes to public school. I have the utmost respect for teachers of any sort whether public, private, or homeschool. These are unsung heroes in our midst. To pay homage to all the amazing teachers past and present I give you:

EMS Week 2015 Theme - EMS STRONG The 42nd Annual National EMS Week will be observed May 15-21, 2016. This week of observation was initially authorized by President Gerald Ford in 1973 and has continued since, getting bigger and bigger each year as EMS has evolved to more advanced roles within the healthcare system. For 2016, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) has partnered with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to promote National EMS Week. ACEP has done a great job in the past bringing awareness to the importance of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system. EMS Week 2016 continues the EMS Strong campaign with the theme,

6 Sacrifices Made By ParamedicsAs a former, full-time paramedic, I have a deep passion for the prehospital work that our nation's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals contribute to the health and safety of our country. These professionals include first responders, EMTs, emergency medical dispatchers, and paramedics. It takes the full team of professionals to make the system work efficiently and successfully. I am a big supporter of National EMS Week, and I encourage you to support this week of awareness too. The majority of Americans don't understand the number of huge personal sacrifices required by our EMS workers to do their job. The commitment to do the job long-term is not for the faint of heart. It is consistently a challenge on many levels, including physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially.

Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day is May 20. EMS Week is planned and promoted each year by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). This year, they have partnered with NAEMT to create the 2015 theme, which is EMS STRONG. The idea for the EMS STRONG campaign is to promote EMS all year, 365 days. EMS as whole doesn't typically toot their own horn enough. Emergency Medical Services should create awareness to their communities all year long and not just during EMS Week.
