As a veteran myself, I am lovingly pained and haunted by the memories of partaking in several military duties where we had to load our fallen brothers and sisters in arms, onto a plane to their next destination, and eventually to their grieving families. I WILL NEVER FORGET!
I WILL NEVER FORGET the noise of the plane and the fuel burning through the jet engines as the plane lay on the runway scurrying to depart from an active war zone.
I WILL NEVER FORGET the beautiful flags draped upon each of the caskets. There were so many flags…
I WILL NEVER FORGET the feeling I felt as Taps played as we gave our final loving salute to our fallen heroes. None of them would have ever considered themselves heroes; they would have just told you that they were simply doing their job.
As a former combat medic, I can tell you firsthand that I pray no one sees or experiences the casualties of war.
To put it plainly, it is something I WILL NEVER FORGET!
Just like the traces, a knife leaves behind on a board, a veteran feel's the same effect. This Memorial Day, think. They are more than custom cutting boards--they can be a representation of a veteran!

Serving our country wasn't all bad, though. There were plenty of times when some of us could light up the makeshift pit and gather together as a military family. A cutting board would've been nice to have at that time. Regardless, we were always there for each other; that's what made being in a war zone bearable. We rose up and comforted each other at our lowest points and treasured each other's highest moments. I WILL NEVER FORGET those that paved the way before me in previous wars and conflicts. I WILL NEVER FORGET those that paid the ultimate price and how blessed I am to still be here with my family! I WILL NEVER FORGET that I am one of the many who are a part of the protected material from getting damaged.
